Russia Besieged - Winter is coming ( sorry )
The
weather roll for September to October 41 is often crucial. If the
good weather continues, the Russian can disappear. Fortunately for
me, PionPion gets a 10, so clear then mud ( the historical meteo ).
He still takes the opportunity to take Kiev and surround
Dnepropetrovsk. He started cleaning the woods in front of Moscow.
In
my turn, I anticipate the arrival of winter by massing troops in
Leningrad. The German horde is slowly approaching Moscow but the city
is difficult to take. Confident in its invincibility, the Hun left a
pile exposed in front of Leningrad. I take this opportunity to make
them check that they can die too. End of german arrogance. An attempt
to disengage Dnepropetrovsk failed miserably, inflicting casualties
on the garrison. The city is doomed.
We
are now in November-December. The weather becomes beautiful again
with a slight mud. My partner is taking advantage of this outright
luck, storming Kharkov and Kalinin. Only the valiant defenders of
Leningrad manage to repel an assault, even inflicting casualties on
the german tanks. The Soviet line is becoming thinner.
I just
back down, without attempting a counterattack. I must keep forces for
the coming winter.
Finally the new year 1942. The Oural industry is starting to produce at full speed . Pionpion, emboldened by an autumn rich in conquests, decided to stay in the plain and managed to take Kursk, the key to the board’s center. The Germans have serious maluses during the first winter but their manhood cannot be questioned!
Not believing such arrogance, I launch my siberian hordes. In front
of Leningrad, the troops were ready. Two paratroops corps drop in the
snow and give me the Zocs needed to encircle the troops left on the
guard flank. The result is significant: four infantry and one armored
corps are destroyed.
In the woods in front of Moscow, it is the
Soviet cavalry that destroys the panzers. Forbidden from retreat by
the forest, they are attacked twice and another armored corps
disappeared.
On the side of Sevastopol, won by my enthusiasm, I
cheat by giving my troops full movement capacity when it has to be
divided by two. I then inflict some losses. My partner sees cheating,
but, like a prince, decides not to go back.
The weather
remains bad in March. The German army, trashed in previous battles,
carefully retreated to the warm cities. Parachutists are destroyed
and Moscow's outskirts abandoned.
In the face of such a lack of
combativeness, the Russian is content to rebuild its strength. The
arrival of spring means the return of aviation and the war of
movement, all things harmful to a self-respecting Russian.
Summer
will be hot!
